Prestone holds quality to it's highest priority with Prestone DOT 3 or DOT 4 Brake Fluid (AS-400, AS-401, or AS-800).  The Brake Fluid is safe and meets or exceeds our high quality specification.  Unfortunately, we have discovered that between February 28, 2013 and March 7, 2013, the bottles used for these products do not meet Prestone’s high temperature packaging specifications.

Only Brake Fluid in bottles produced between February 28, 2013 and March 7, 2013 are affected.  The bottles and the shipping containers will have a seven character alphanumeric date code date etched or stamped on the bottom quadrant.  The date code is followed by a time stamp, which is not relevant here.  For our purposes, only the last four characters of the date code are relevant.  Therefore, the first three characters are designated with an “XXX” below.

Rich Products Corporation has expanded it's initial voluntary Product Recall on several products they produce due to the possibility of contamination with Escherichia coli bacteria ("E.Coli 0121")’s.  The Quality Assurance Team has determined that the following products may be contaminated with Escherichia coli O121 bacteria (“E. Coli O121”): E. coli O121 has been recognized as a potential disease causing serotype of bacteria. Unlike Escherichia coli O157:H7, another pathogenic serotype of E. coli, little is known about the public health significance of O121.
 
The Farm Rich® Philly Cheese Steaks are packaged in 21 oz. bag and the Farm Rich® Mini Stuffed Pizza Slices are packaged in a 22 oz. bag and now both items include ALL LOT CODES, which are located on the lower half on the back of the package.

There have been no confirmed reports of illness associates with the consumption of this product. However, if you have concerns about illness you should contact your physician or healthcare provider.

Riggio Distribution Co. of Detroit, MI is announcing a precautionary  lot specific recall of 16 ounce packages of "Mixed Blend Greens”  because they have the potential to be contaminated with Listeria monocytogenes, an organism which can cause serious and sometimes fatal infections in young children, frail or elderly people, and others with weakened immune systems. Although healthy individuals may suffer only short-term symptoms such as high fever, severe headache, stiffness, nausea, abdominal pain and diarrhea, Listeria infection can cause miscarriages and stillbirths among pregnant women.
 
To date, no illnesses have been reported to in connection with this problem.
 
The recalled greens were distributed in Michigan, Ohio and Illinois in retail stores and through distributors and a potential for contamination was noted after routine testing by the Michigan Department of Agriculture revealed the presence of Listeria Monocytogenes in a single 16 ounce package of "Mixed Blend” Greens.

King Arthur Flour places great emphasis on providing customers with the highest quality products and services, therefore out of an abundance of caution we are issuing this recall.
 
Small, polyurethane balls approximately 7mm to 9mm (1/4" to 3/8") in size may have dropped into bags during the final sifting stage of the milling process. The balls have a smooth surface and no sharp edges and are made from food grade material. Because of their bright blue color and size (about half the diameter of a dime), they are easily seen in the flour.

Hartz Mountain Corporation is taking this action after recent Hartz quality testing found trace amounts of unapproved antibiotic residue in samples of Hartz® Chicken Chew™ and Oinkies® Pig Skin Twists wrapped with Chicken products. These antibiotics are approved for use in poultry in China and other countries, including European Union member states, but are not among those approved in the U.S.  Hartz® Chicken Chew™ and Oinkies™ Pig Skin Twists wrapped with Chicken products are safe to feed as directed; however, the presence of such antibiotic residue is considered an adulteration of the product under United States law.  This finding does not pose a safety risk to humans or pets.
 
No other Hartz products are affected by this withdrawal.

New York State authorities initially requested that the Company remove Waggin’ Train jerky treats from retail locations in the state of New York as a Class 2 recall, which they agreed to do.  In addition, because of the differences in U.S. and Chinese regulations, Nestlé Purina elected to conduct a nationwide voluntary withdrawal of all Waggin’ Train  products. 
 
While these products do not pose a safety risk to pets, the antibiotic residue should not have been in our products. So until we have total confidence in the quality of our Waggin’ Train treats, we are enacting this voluntary withdrawal from the market until further notice.

Importantly, the Chicken Jerky and Chicken Grillers treats remain safe for dogs, and consumers who have purchased either product do not need to take action. On Monday, New York State’s Department of Agriculture informed the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) and the Company that trace amounts of residual antibiotics had been found in several lots of Milo’s Kitchen® Chicken Jerky. After consultation with the New York Department of Agriculture and FDA, the decision was made to voluntarily recall Milo’s Kitchen® Chicken Jerky and Chicken Grillers, which are both sourced from the same chicken suppliers. The use of antibiotics to keep chickens healthy and disease-free while raising them is standard practice in poultry production for both human and pet food. However, while these antibiotics do not pose a safety risk, they should not be present in the end food product.

Knorr Pasta Sides Cheesy Bacon Macaroni is packaged in 3.8-ounce (107-gram) pouches.  The recall is limited to one UPC that contains one of two Best-If-Used-By Dates, as follows:  
· Unit UPC:  41000-08248, located on the back of the package under the nutrition facts panel. 
· Best-If-Used-By Dates:  Sep1113BU0 or Sep1213BU0, located on the back of the package, alongside the nutrition facts panel. No other Knorr products are affected by this recall.
 
The recall was initiated after it was discovered that a different Knorr product mix containing soy was inadvertently packaged in Cheesy Bacon Macaroni pouches, which do not list soy as an ingredient (though they do state that the product was made in a facility that processes soy). The issue has been addressed and corrected.  This voluntary retail-level recall is being conducted with the knowledge of the U.S. Food and Drug Administration.

Nestlé USA announced the voluntary recall of limited quantities of Nestlé NESQUIK® Chocolate Powder in the 10.9, 21.8 and 40.7 ounce canisters. NOTE -  SPARTAN STORES ONLY RECEIVED THE 10.9 OZ AND  21.8 OZ PRODUCTS. The voluntary recall is limited to only NESQUIK Chocolate Powder, which was distributed nationally. No other varieties of NESQUIK powder or any sizes or flavors of NESQUIK ready-to-drink are affected by this recall.
 
Nestlé is removing the canisters from distribution because the company was notified by an ingredient supplier, Omya Inc. that it has issued a recall of certain lots of its ingredient, calcium carbonate due to possible presence of Salmonella. Calcium carbonate is used in NESQUIK as an ingredient. There have been no reports of any illnesses or adverse health effects associated with the affected product.
 
The production code is located on the bottom of the canister, adjacent to the consumer expiration date. All affected products have an expiration date of BEST BEFORE Oct 2014.
 
Consumers who may have purchased the affected NESQUIK Chocolate Powder should not consume it, but instead should return it to the place of purchase for a full refund or contact Nestlé Consumer Services at (800) 628-7679.
 
The most common symptoms of Salmonella infection are diarrhea, abdominal cramps and fever, which develop within eight to 72 hours of eating or drinking contaminated food. The illness usually lasts for four to seven days and most people recover without treatment. However, salmonellosis can be severe or even life threatening for infants, older people, pregnant women and those with weakened immune systems. Individuals experiencing these symptoms should seek medical attention.

    BEF Foods Inc., a Columbus, Ohio, Corporation, is recalling approximately 1,768,600 pounds of Bob Evans Maple Links and Maple Patties because they are misbranded in that they contain monosodium Glutamate (MSG), which is not declared on the label. The problem was discovered by the company during a label audit. When the company reformulated their products, they discontinued the use of a spice blend containing MSG and removed MSG from the ingredient list on the label. During the label audit, the company discovered that the individual establishments were still using a spice blend containing MSG. MSG is not classified as an allergen, but can cause a reaction in people with a sensitivity to MSG. Frozen products will be identified by any of the following Julian Codes: 0264 through 0365, 1001 through 1365 or 2001 through 2293. This Julian code can be found on the front of the package located before the Establishment number, see attached image.     September 11, 2012 - Spartan Stores, Inc of Grand Rapids, Michigan is initiated a voluntary recall of certain deli products distributed to its Family Fare, D&W Fresh Markets, Glen’s and VG’s supermarkets and a select number of independent retailers in Michigan. This voluntary recall is a precautionary measure due to concerns about possible contact with Listeria monocytogenes, an organism which can cause serious and sometimes fatal infections in young children, frail or elderly people, and others with weakened immune systems. Although healthy individuals may suffer only short-term symptoms such as high fever, severe headache, stiffness, nausea, abdominal pain and diarrhea, Listeria infection can cause miscarriages and stillbirths among pregnant women. No products have been identified as having the virus, nor have any illnesses been reported.

     

    All of the products involved in the recall should be discarded or returned for a full refund or replacement.
